Individuals with special needs in the broader South Georgia region will have a unique opportunity to enjoy a fair experience specifically designed for their comfort and safety. "Shine at the Fair," a new event, is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Albany Fairgrounds, located at 810 S. Westover Blvd. in Albany, Ga.
This marks the first time Night to Shine at Byne has partnered with the Albany Exchange Club of Southwest Georgia to host such an event. It aims to offer a fun-filled day complete with shows, exhibits, food, and rides for individuals who may not typically be able to handle large crowds, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Hal Pinson, Byne Missions Pastor, underscored the event's significance, stating that Night to Shine is dedicated to recognizing that these individuals "are valued, created with purpose by God." Pinson further explained that, like anyone else, these individuals desire to enjoy various activities, and "Shine at the Fair" is an opportunity for the community to help them do so.
Pinson expressed gratitude for the robust support from the Exchange Club, as well as other community organizations and businesses. He noted that these partners not only sponsor the annual Night to Shine events but also provide consistent support for individuals throughout the year. He emphasized that these collaborations reflect a shared understanding of the importance of year-round engagement, helping individuals find both enjoyment and places of service beyond a single event.
Those wishing to attend "Shine at the Fair" must register by Tuesday, October 27, at 12 P.M. Registration can be completed by scanning the QR code found on the event flyer or by using the specific registration link provided by organizers.
"Shine at the Fair" is an extension of the broader Night to Shine initiative, a worldwide event honoring individuals with special needs. This global movement is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, which advocates for events where everyone is made to feel loved, valued, and recognized for their inherent purpose. The traditional Night to Shine event at Byne Church in Albany typically gathers hundreds of participants for a celebratory evening.
The next main Night to Shine event is already scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2027.
