Valdosta, GA – Valdosta will host the Wreaths Across America (WAA) Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE) on November 3, bringing a national mission to local residents and military families. The exhibit, part of WAA's yearlong effort to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom, will make its stop at 301 E. Central Ave. The local event, hosted by the WAA Sponsorship Group, Veteran Honor Wreaths for Dasher Cemetery, will be free and open to the public from noon to 8 p.m. This visit offers a direct opportunity for the community to engage with a vital initiative dedicated to recognizing the sacrifices of American heroes.
The WAA Mobile Education Exhibit provides a unique interactive experience designed to connect communities with the stories of service and sacrifice. Karen Worcester, executive director of WAA, explained that the exhibit "provides the unique opportunity for communities to come together and share the stories of those who served and sacrificed." Worcester further noted that the MEE also functions as an official "Welcome Home" location specifically for the nation's Vietnam veterans, offering a long-overdue welcome. Additionally, it serves as an educational tool to teach future generations about the true cost of freedom, a core tenet of the organization’s mission. This emphasis on education is particularly relevant for students and young families in Valdosta and Lowndes County.
All Valdosta residents, including veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families, are invited to visit the exhibit. This free event encourages community members to take a tour of the mobile exhibit and engage directly with WAA Ambassadors and volunteers. Visitors can learn more about the national nonprofit's comprehensive, yearlong mission and the extensive work its volunteers perform to support servicemen and their communities across the country. Members of the media, local dignitaries, veterans, and other interested groups are specifically encouraged to attend, ask questions, share personal stories, and experience what is described as a one-of-a-kind exhibit. It's a chance for the Valdosta community to show its appreciation and learn more about those who have served.
Beyond the exhibit visit, community members have an opportunity to directly support local efforts. Sponsorships for a veteran’s wreath are available for $17. These sponsorships are specifically directed to the local WAA program at Dasher Cemetery. According to the organization’s press release, each sponsorship goes towards supporting the many free programs and initiatives offered throughout the year. Crucially, these contributions also ensure that a live, balsam wreath is placed on the headstone of an American hero. This act of remembrance will occur on Saturday, December 19, 2026, as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. Participating in the wreath sponsorship is a tangible way for Valdosta residents to ensure that the memory of those laid to rest in Dasher Cemetery is honored.
The arrival of the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit in Valdosta represents more than just a passing event; it is a significant community gathering designed to reinforce the values of patriotism and remembrance. For local families, it's an opportunity for intergenerational learning about military service and the sacrifices made for freedom. For veterans and active military personnel in the area, including those from Moody Air Force Base, it offers a moment of recognition and a chance to connect with a supportive national network. By visiting the exhibit or sponsoring a wreath, Valdosta residents can actively participate in honoring those who have served and ensuring their stories are not forgotten.
