Valdosta Daily Times reported that Valwood School in Hahira recently marked its 18th Annual Veterans Day Program, welcoming more than 150 attendees ranging from World War II to the present day. The tradition, which began in 2007 following a letter from an eighth-grade student to a veteran, continues with middle school students writing personal invitations.

During the event, sixth and seventh graders formed a chorus, eighth graders performed solos, duets, and wrote the script, and upper school students contributed musical performances. Each branch of the U.S. military received recognition during its respective service song while veterans stood to be honored. Following the program, participating veterans attended a brunch with middle school students, according to Valdosta Daily Times.
