Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently recognized adult learners who successfully completed its Integrated Education and Training (IET) program, a key initiative designed to equip individuals with valuable workforce skills and industry-recognized credentials. The recognition took place during a gathering on October 15, celebrating graduates from multiple campuses across the region.
Among the students honored for their achievements were Audrey Martin, Joseph Collier, and DaRon Green, all of whom completed their training at the Valdosta Campus. Anzleigh Reliford was recognized from the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. Additionally, a student from Cook County was acknowledged for their participation and successful completion of the program, according to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.
The IET program is specifically tailored to assist adult learners in gaining career credentials while simultaneously working towards their high school equivalency. This integrated approach combines traditional academic instruction with practical, hands-on workforce preparation. The college states that this dual focus aims to provide students with the necessary technical knowledge and professional skills essential for success in today’s competitive job market.
Participants in the IET program receive comprehensive employability training, which includes crucial soft skills development, alongside career-focused instruction. This preparation is designed to open pathways to meaningful employment opportunities for graduates. The program offers flexible training options, ranging from short, two-week non-credit courses to more extensive semester-long Technical Certificates of Credit (TCC), allowing students to pursue educational pathways that align with their individual career goals.
A significant aspect of the IET program is its accessibility; it is offered at no cost to eligible Adult Education students, making career-focused training more attainable for those seeking to enhance their employment prospects. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College emphasizes that the program reflects its ongoing commitment to removing barriers to education and creating accessible routes to career advancement. By combining high school equivalency preparation with specialized workforce training, the college strives to help adult learners build confidence, strengthen their qualifications, and take important steps toward long-term career success.
Trevecca Doggett, IET/WPL Coordinator, underscored the program's value, describing it as "a great opportunity for eligible Adult Education students to gain valuable workforce skills." Doggett further noted that participants can also earn industry-recognized credentials at no cost, encouraging individuals to take advantage of this chance to continue their education, develop their skills, and prepare for future career opportunities.
