VALDOSTA — The holiday season is officially underway in Valdosta, with organizers inviting the community to register for the 2026 Greater Valdosta Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 5. This year's event is set to transform Historic Downtown Valdosta into a festive spectacle, centered around the magical theme of the Polar Express.

Families can look forward to a vibrant display featuring an array of floats, enthusiastic marching groups, classic cars, beloved holiday characters, and live music. For the first time, the staff of Valdosta Main Street is managing the parade, with a stated goal to make the 2026 celebration more accessible, affordable, and exciting for everyone involved, from participants to spectators.

As part of these efforts, Valdosta Main Street has adjusted parade entry fees, rolling them back to their 2024 levels. Additionally, organizations that registered for the 2025 parade, which was cancelled due to inclement weather, will not be required to pay a registration fee this year if they did not receive a refund for their previous registration. Patrick Pearson, Main Street manager for Valdosta Main Street, emphasized the organization's commitment to inclusivity, stating they "want to make the Greater Valdosta Christmas Parade a celebration that everyone feels welcome to be part of."

Pearson explained that reducing registration fees to 2024 levels is a deliberate step to encourage broader participation from businesses, various organizations, families, and community groups. The fee waiver for those who supported the cancelled 2025 parade and chose not to receive a refund is intended to recognize their continued support for the annual event.

Valdosta Main Street is also actively seeking volunteers for classic cars, particularly convertibles, to transport VIPs along the parade route. Classic car owners interested in contributing their vehicles to the parade are encouraged to contact [email protected]. Car clubs are also invited to participate with a special group registration rate of $100, which covers up to ten vehicles. Any additional club vehicles can join for an extra fee of $15 each.

With the Polar Express theme, organizers are encouraging all participants to harness their creativity and bring the beloved Christmas story to life. Businesses, civic organizations, churches, schools, nonprofits, dance groups, bands, car clubs, and other community organizations are all encouraged to register and contribute to the festive atmosphere.

Registration for the 2026 Greater Valdosta Christmas Parade is currently open. Prospective participants are advised to register early to take advantage of the $50 early registration fee before the November 20 deadline. For comprehensive parade registration details and additional information, interested parties can visit Historic Downtown Valdosta Main Street on Facebook or reach out to the Main Street office directly via email at [email protected].
