HAHIRA – The Valwood Valiants football team returns to Goddard Field this Friday night for their Homecoming game, aiming to continue their strong 4-1 start to the season. The Valiants will host the 3-1 Calvary Christian Knights at 7:30 p.m., in a matchup expected to challenge Valwood’s physical rushing attack and aggressive defense against Calvary Christian’s balanced offensive approach.
Valwood enters the Homecoming contest following a 28-20 victory over Tiftarea Academy. In that game, senior quarterback Stanton Beverly contributed significantly with 130 total yards and three total touchdowns. Running back Kamari Jackson was a key offensive force, tallying 171 rushing yards and one touchdown. On the defensive side, Hamp Tanner led the effort with 10 tackles, while Deonte Henley recorded a sack and added two tackles for loss.
Through five games this season, the Valiants have demonstrated a potent offense and a disruptive defense. The team has accumulated 639 total passing yards, resulting in nine passing touchdowns. Their ground game has been particularly effective, accounting for 1,400 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Defensively, Valwood has recorded eight tackles for loss and forced five turnovers. Individually, Kamari Jackson leads the team with an average of 125 rushing yards per game and five touchdowns, while Stanton Beverly is second in rushing yards per game with 94.4 and leads the team with eight rushing touchdowns.
Calvary Christian arrives in Hahira with a solid 3-1 record. The Knights have scored 98 points across their first four games while allowing 83 points to their opponents. Their offense features a balanced attack, averaging 160 rushing yards and 210 passing yards per game. Senior quarterback Braxton Wilkinson has been central to their passing game, averaging 240.7 passing yards per game. Sophomore receiver Jaikari Harris leads the Knights in receiving, averaging 77.3 receiving yards per game. On the ground, senior running back Caraun Thomas averages 86.8 rushing yards per game and leads Calvary Christian with three total touchdowns this season.
The Homecoming game presents Valwood with an opportunity to showcase their progress and maintain momentum in front of their home crowd on Goddard Field.
